When keratin grows on skin, keratosis might be the disease. Actually, keratin is the main component of hair, toe nails and fingernails. Treatments are for various levels of acuteness. Creams and gels are available for those with mild case. The gel or cream would loosen and soften the affected area and it will be removed easily. Cryosurgery is a type of surgical medication for keratosis.

Extremely low temperature is employed to skin to get rid of abnormal tissues. Liquid nitrogen or carbon dioxide snow are used in this kind of surgery.  It hardens the affected area more to make it easier to eliminate. It costs less, hurts less and scars less. On the other hand it can cause nerve tissue and healthy tissues to be harmed.

Laser surgery could also be chosen. This is done without the use of a scalpel. Laser surgery burns out damaged tissues, and it could be costly. The good thing about laser surgery is that it heals quickly and the pain is less.

Conventional surgery, or surgery with scalpel is another less expensivechoice. Since keratosis does not penetrate deep within the skin, it could be removed on the skin surface by softening the affected part with a cream or gel, then, a dermatologist would do the rest of the surgical procedure. The pain you would feel would amount to the safety of your health.
